Maxi-Cosi Connected Home products can be used individually or simultaneously in baby's room with no interference.
Does See Baby Monitor work with batteries?
See Baby Monitor doesn't work with batteries and needs to be plugged into the power supply.
Do I always need a Wi-Fi connection?
When you use the See Pro Baby Monitor for the first time, Wi-Fi is required to pair it with the Maxi-Cosi Connected Home app. To pair the See Pro Baby Monitor, you need to download the app on your phone and follow the steps in the app. This will allow you to activate your See Pro Baby Monitor and make the most of all the key, unique services that are available, such as CryAssist. A Wi-Fi connection is required to use CryAssist. After the setup process has been completed,
• If you want to stream on your mobile phone using the app, your See Pro Baby Monitor needs to be connected to Wi-Fi
• If you want to stream on the parent screen, a Wi-Fi connection is not required. Your See Pro Baby Monitor is connected to the parent screen directly through FHSS peer-to-peer technology, which does not require Wi-Fi.
Can I use my See Pro Baby Monitor without the app?
You can use your See Pro Baby Monitor without the app and stream via the parent screen.
Can I check on my baby even when I'm not at home?
If your See Pro Baby Monitor is connected to your home Wi-Fi network and your phone is connected to the internet (on a Wi-Fi network or using mobile data), you can check on your little one from anywhere via the app.
Will I receive notifications on my phone or the parent screen if something happens in my baby's room?
If you have enabled notifications in the app or parent screen settings, you will receive notifications when the camera detects changes in your baby's room, such as movement, a sound or a cry, or even changes in temperature and humidity levels.
You can also define the type of alert you would like to receive.
Can the device be connected to different Wi-Fi networks?
The device can only be connected to one Wi-Fi network at a time. To connect to a different Wi-Fi network, you'll need to restart the device.
Do I need a Wi-Fi connection to be able to use the parent screen?
If you want to stream on the parent screen, a Wi-Fi connection is not required. Our See Pro Baby Monitor connects directly to the parent screen through FHSS peer-to-peer technology. A Wi-Fi connection is required to use the CryAssist technology.
How many channels does the parent screen operate over?
Two baby monitors can be streamed and viewed simultaneously on the parent screen.
How long does the battery in the parent screen last for?
The parent screen can operate for 3–4 days when sleep mode is activated. It takes approximately 2–3 hours to recharge the battery.
What is sleep mode on the parent screen?
Sleep mode is a mode in which the parent screen only turns on when something happens in the baby's room, such as crying or movement detection. At all other times, the screen is turned off to save battery.
What is the range of the parent screen?
The range extends up to 50 metres indoors and up to 200 metres outdoors. If you're using the Maxi-Cosi app, the range is unlimited.
Does the parent screen have an out-of-range indicator?
The parent screen will send an offline alarm (sound and notification) if it can't connect to the video monitor after 3–5 seconds.
Is the subscription to CryAssist automatic?
A free, six-month subscription to the CryAssist service is included when you purchase the See Pro Baby Monitor. You can decide when you want to activate CryAssist. If you want to continue using the service after the free, six-month service ends, you can extend the subscription in the app. After the service has been activated, it can't be paused.
How long does it take to receive CryAssist notifications?
When your baby's cry is detected, you will be notified instantly. It then takes up to 30 seconds to translate your baby's cry and provide you with an answer.
How does CryAssist work?
CryAssist is an advanced technology powered by Zoundream and backed by scientific research that alerts you to your baby's cry. Each cry is analysed against an extensive database of more than 100,000 hours of real baby cries. It's then instantly translated into one of five types of crying: Sleepy, Fussy, Hungry, Gassy or Agitated. This makes it simpler for you to address your baby's needs. Our machine-learning algorithm continually improves and delivers you personalised information.
What happens when the free, six-month subscription to CryAssist ends?
We offer a free, six-month free service because we believe this is the most important period for parent to receive support. After six months, babies start to develop ways other than crying to communicate and you should know more about your baby's behaviour and schedule. After the free, six-month access to CryAssist has ended, you can continue to use all other functionality of the See Pro Baby Monitor, including cry detection. Only the cry translation function will stop, but this can be renewed if desired.
Can I subscribe to CryAssist after the free, six-month service has ended?
It is possible to extend or renew the CryAssist subscription for six months via the Maxi-Cosi app.
Why is there a five-minute cooldown period on CryAssist after an answer has been provided? Why am I seeing a countdown next to the CryAssist icon on the See Pro Baby Monitor app?
CryAssist is an AI technology that first detects and notifies you if your baby is crying. It then provides you with a translation of what your baby's cry may mean: hungry, fussy, agitated, sleepy or gassy.
We have set up a five-minute cooldown mechanism. During this time, there will be a temporary pause in sending you notifications and cry translations after each cry translation.
Paediatric research shows that while a baby is crying, the baby may express different feelings within a short period of time. Example: Baby cries because they're sleepy, but as they struggle to fall asleep immediately, they may ask for food/breastmilk to be soothed (hungry). For this reason, we relax the mechanism to avoid confusing you and overloading you with different translations in a very short period of time. After the five-minute cooldown has been counted down, the system will automatically go back to detecting and analysing as normal (if the baby is still crying).
How far away should the device be from my baby?
The device does NOT need to be very close to the baby: It just needs to be able to "hear" the sound clearly. We recommend placing the See Pro Baby Monitor around 2 to 2.5 metres from the baby. If the environment is quiet, the distance can be extended further than this. Generally, we advise you to keep it in the room your baby is sleeping in.
How are privacy and data protection handled?
CryAssist (powered by Zoundream) does not use your personal data to provide the service. Zoundream only analyses audio of anonymised baby cries.
Can any other sounds be mistaken for a baby crying?
CryAssist operates like other voice-activated smart devices, such as Google Home. It listens for a predefined trigger (baby crying) and sends the cry sound to the cloud for analysis (e.g. hunger or sleepiness). The system only aims to detect baby cries but may occasionally misinterpret other noises, such as many smart devices. Efforts have been made to minimise false activations, but some non-cry sounds may still get processed, which is common for similar technologies.
Does CryAssist offer medical advice?
No. CryAssist is a service designed to assist you in monitoring your baby's activities. However, it is crucial to understand that the Zoundream service for analysing and interpreting your baby's cries is neither a medical device nor a medical service, and should not be used as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. As a parent or legal guardian, the ultimate responsibility for your child's health and well-being rests solely with you.
Can I turn off CryAssist notifications?
Sometimes, you may be travelling or away from your home and may not need notifications. You can turn them off in the Settings menu in the app.
